| Sumario: | The aim of this article is to present the laws on the training of music teachers during some historical aspects and nowadays through Federal Law No. 11769/2008, which guarantees music content within the arts discipline; CNE/CP Resolution No. 2, of July 1, 2015, for higher education courses, and Resolution No. 2, of May 10, 2016, for the operationalization of music teaching in Basic Education, reflecting on how this application is in school reality. This is a qualitative documentary approach, using legislation as a methodological procedure, based on authors who have addressed music education and teacher training throughout history, such as Álvaro (1999) and Grezeli and Wolffenbuttel (2021). In the end, it was understood that the right to music education from a trained teacher is guaranteed, despite the fact that circumstances are often not favorable due to a lack of understanding of the importance of musical knowledge in the integral formation of the individual.
