| Sumario: | The “Save” Jorge “ novel, displayed between 2012 and 2013 on Globo TV, promoted the fusion between fiction and reality by portraying the Complexo do Alemão recently pacified. Various media, in turn, reflected the fiction during the showing of the novel, publishing news about aspects of production and filming in the region. In this article we analyze the differences in media representation of Complexo do Alemão in virtual newspapers during the showing of the novel “Salve Jorge”, beyond the six months preceding and following the production. The theoretical framework was based on readings on imagination and conflicts in cities, the agenda-setting theory, novels and transmidiation in the Brazilian cultural context. Content analysis on publications was performed on the major online news portals in Rio de Janeiro, noting the potential of the novel as a parameter for establishing media agendas that influence, in turn, perceptions and imagined on a location. |
