Resumo:This article analyzes Youth and Adult Education associated with Professional and Technological Education as a necessary policy to enter the labor market, according to a perspective that values the workforce, those who abandoned their studies. For this, it addresses data on school dropouts and the role played by the Federal Network of Professional and Technological Education (RFEPCT) in the formation of these “lucky underprivileged”. Next, the need to provide specific ongoing training for teachers and staff working with this public is discussed. It concludes that, despite the many public policies and actions aimed at EJA-EPT, it is still necessary to break with the idea of EJA as compensatory teaching and encourage teachers who work with this teaching modality to dedicate themselves to continuing education in order to understand the fundamental role they play as teachers of EJA-EPT, in addition to overcoming prejudice with regard to these teaching modalities.
