Descripción
Sumario:This article deals with the intellectual relations between Orlando Fals Borda and Florestan Fernandes, addressing the similarities and differences between their respective views on the political role of the sociologist in Latin America. The specific period addressed in this paper refers to the 1960s, revolving around the debates on “committed sociology”. The research developed here involves documentary investigations carried out in January 2018 in Florestan Fernandes' personal archive and library, available at the Universidade Federal deSão  Carlos  (UFSCar).  Finally,  hypotheses  are  raised  about  the  placeof  Florestan Fernandes' sociological production in the history of sociology itself in Latin America.
