Sumario:Objective: to identify violence practiced by intimate partner violence to women with depression. Method: qualitative research conducted from January to April 2017 with 29 women who had depression and were followed up at a Center for Comprehensive Health Care (Centro de Atenção Integral à Saúde - CAIS) in João Pessoa, Paraíba. Data were collected through interviews, using a semi-structuredscript. The speeches were processed by the IRAMUTEQ software and analyzed using the content analysis technique. Results: among the participants, 29 reporteda history of violence, with most of the aggressions being committed by intimate partners. The analysis of the speeches allowed the subdivision of the content inthree thematic groups: types of violence suffered, denunciation of the aggressions and lack of family support. Conclusion: there was a close relationship betweenviolence perpetrated by an intimate partner and the diagnosis of depression, with harmful consequences for women and their family relationships.
