description Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic increased the antivaccination movements and the vaccine hesitancy, as well as the infodemia, misinformation and fake news. This study sought to problematize these phenomena in the COVID-19 scenario, from the perspective of Information Science. It aimed to identify, in the field of Information Science, research related to the antivaccination movement and vaccine hesitancy, in order to elucidate how the area has positioned itself about the reasons why an individual hesitates to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Methods: For this, was carried out a qualitative, exploratory and bibliographical research. Results: It was highlighted that vaccine hesitancy is related to reasons involved in informational phenomena and that Information Science can alleviate vaccine hesitancy at COVID-19, through the dissemination of truthful and reliable information, which can save lives. Conclusions: Hence, the information professional needs to expand their performance to social contexts, in order to contribute to different scenarios, in which information has a decisive role, such as the COVID- 19.
