Descripción
Sumario:Traditionally, archaeological research in the Amazon focuses on pre-colonial indigenous occupations, or when dealing with the post-colonial period, they focus on large urban centers. The post-colonial historical period in peripheral cities is scarcely researched. In response to this scenario, the research project Archaeological Practices and Cultural Heritage Management: Urban Archeology in the City of Tefé was implemented, which aims to investigate patterns of historical occupations in urban contexts in the city of Tefé/AM, an important and strategic trading post on the Middle Solimões River that orbited under the shadow of the metropolises of Belém and Manaus. Initial research data in the central and peripheral areas of the city of Tefé point to an intense socio-cultural and commercial relationship between interior urban centers and large centers, providing the necessary contributions for a better understanding of social and commercial relations between different Amazonian regions.
