| Sumario: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the basic nutritional awareness of weight lifters in a few gyms in Recife, Brazil. The study group constituted 141 individuals who each answered a questionnaire. The results showed awareness in what is referred to as the identification of food macronutrient sources, and that fasting is not the best way to reduce the body weight. However, a lack of knowledge concerning the relationship between the use and types of supplements, which may have happened due to a lack of orientation by specialized professionals in the subject. This way, it seems to us that is necessary the adoption of more questionnaires on basic knowledge about nutrition in the gyms followed by elucidating lectures that implement programs of nutritional education as well as this professional' importance in the gyms and places where there is physical exercises practice. |
