| Sumario: | The aim of the study was to evaluate the perception of quality of life (QoL) of bodybuilders in the gym of a social project. Participants were 74 subjects (63 female), divided into two groups of 37 participants: (1) the bodybuilding group (BG) and the (2) bodybuilding group associated with another physical exercise (BPEG). The abbreviated version of the WHOQOL was used to evaluate the quality of life and the demographic questionnaire to characterize the sample. Statistical procedures were calculated using the SPSS® version 21.0. Regarding the general perception of health in both groups, the result was a good perception of LQ. BPEG achieved higher mean QOL values in all domains when compared to BG, with a significant difference for social domain (p = 0.027) and psychological domain (p = 0.004). Intragroup (BPEG and NG), the social domain (74.94) was statistically larger followed by the physical (73.24) and psychological (61.94) domains. It is concluded that the practice in bodybuilding is capable of contributing to the quality of life in the social, physical and psychological domains. The study highlights the relevance of public policies related to the incentive of physical exercise and improvement of the quality of life of the population of Minas Gerais. |
