| Sumario: | Introduction: Krav Maga is the fighting modality with the greatest adherence among students at the Colégio Militar de Brasília compared to other fighting modalities offered. As a contemporary social phenomenon, it has become an essential element in the praxis of the teaching-learning process, contributing to educational objectives. Objective: To identify the social representations of parents, guardians and students regarding Krav Maga classes at the Colégio Militar de Brasília (CMB), using the contribution of the Theory of Social Representations. Methods: On a voluntary basis, 94 individuals participated in the research, including: 44 adults, parents or guardians aged between (44.2 ± 60.1), and 50 students, teenagers, aged between (14.6 ± 17.6 ), of both sexes. For the content analysis of the focus groups and central nuclei, we used a prototypical bias and the Alceste IraMuTeQ 0.7 alpha 2 2020 software for Microsoft Windows. Results: For parents and guardians, Krav Maga should be able to encourage discipline, develop self-defense and mediate conflicts. On the other hand, for students, the modality promoted physiological, psychological and cognitive benefits. Conclusion: It was observed that the Krav Maga classes taught at CMB were able to promote physiological benefits (strength, motor coordination, flexibility, agility, etc.), psychological and cognitive benefits (concentration, reasoning, discipline and respect), converging with the objectives educational plans designed for the Military College System of Brazil. |
