| Sumario: | This paper discusses the formation of an inter-regional urban phenomenon that constitutes an expression of the contemporary urbanization, using as an object of study the configuration of an "urban corridor" between the metropolitan areas of Campinas and Sorocaba, in the interior of the State of São Paulo, Brasil. It begins from the understanding that this is an urban phenomenon structured by the dominant economic rationality. The formation of this urban corridor is related to the movements of de-concentration and selective re-concentration of industrial activity, which led to the specialization and concentration of high-tech activities. There is the formation of an urban continuum between these two metropolitan regions, tending to set up a linear urban conurbation between the five municipalities along the Santos Dumont highway. New typologies markthe occupation of the territory, especially in logistics platforms and high-tech industries, attracted by the accessibility provided by the highway, and the proximity of Viracopos airport and the biggest consumer market in South America, the city of São Paulo. |
