| Sumario: | Based on Sociolinguistica Variacionista, this work studies the rising of thevowel /E/ pretonic in the enlightened speech of Fortaleza-CE The objectiveof this work is to investigate the performance of linguistic and social factorson the phenomenon. For this, we selected a speech sample composed of 34informants from the PORCUFORT database. The selected informants werestratified by sex, age group and type of survey. In all, we collected 1,821 data that were submitted to the analysis of the Goldvarb X program. The results revealed that the palatal antecedent phonological context and the age range of the elderly favor the rising of the vowel / E / pretonic. |
