| Sumario: | This e-book is the outcome of a collaboration among physiotherapists, professors, and researchers from Brazilian public universities. It was produced with the aim of fostering advancements in health research in Brazil by engaging patients and the public. The primary goal is to offer insights, in a comprehensible manner, on patient and public involvement (PPI) in research, including methods for their engagement at various research phases, practical considerations, PPI training, assessment of PPI approaches, challenges, opportunities, and ethical aspects. The content provided will aid in the education of existing researchers and a new cohort of Brazilian researchers, dedicated to integrating the viewpoint of patients and the public throughout various research phases, spanning from formulating research inquiries to sharing findings, facilitating the creation of significant insights that influence their well-being. The education of patients and individuals keen on collaborating in research advancement can also be facilitated through the content of this e-book. The chapters were authored with the involvement of experienced professors in PPI, acquired through a partnership with researchers from Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. This collaboration included undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students engaged in pioneering research projects conducted in various regions of Brazil using PPI. This marks the initial of numerous PPI training endeavors to be pursued by this group. A subsequent e-book is presently in progress and will showcase successful PPI experiences in Brazil, Canada, Chile, the Netherlands, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Uganda, crafted in partnership with our global associates. We are establishing PPI groups in Brazil and planning "PPI Schools" to educate the academic community and individuals from the public interested in patient and/or public involvement research.
