| Resumo: | Released in 2007, the film I’m Not There can be defined as a network of intertextuality, woven by director Todd Haynes with the aim of analyzing, questioning and showing some new perspectives on Bob Dylan’s musical legacy. By putting concepts inherent in the study of intertextuality in dialogue with the tools of film analysis, this article intends to show how the director appropriates languages from biographic cinema devices (documentary, romantic drama, and interview) as a way to reflect on and translate audiovisually the singer-songwriter’s different personas. Through this process, and over 135 minutes of film, Haynes elevates I’m Not There from the status of simple imagetic portrait of Dylan’s work to a critical comment on the tradition of the biopics. |
