| Sumario: | The article describes from an analytical point of view thePsychological knowledge elaborated and transmitted in the Faculty ofMedicine of Rio de Janeiro during the 19th century. The documentsconsulted are dissertations, theses, articles and books produced bystudents and Faculty members during that time. The reading of thesemateriais showed the meaning and relevance that the study of humansubjectivity had in that context. Particularly, the definitions applied by theauthors to Psychological knowledge and the methods proposed for boththe study of psychical phenomena and the therapy of psychopathologicalphenomena are discussed. |
