Sumario:This article aims to demonstrate the use of wastewater in the soil, pointing out controversies and limitations of this application. The reduced fertility of the soil has been studied due to the inadequate practices that provide losses of organic matter and consequently changes in the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. On the one hand, when wastewater is applied indiscriminately and without criteria, it can lead to degradation of soil structure and cause environmental imbalances. On the other hand, its application in crops can provide greater production avoiding cost with mineral fertilization, and also can promote improvements in the chemical and physical conditions of the soil.
