Almacenamiento y germinación de semillas de Uebelmannia pectinifera Buining (Cactaceae) / Storage and germination of Uebelmannia pectinifera Buining (Cactaceae) seeds

The present study aimed to test different seed storage temperatures on the germination of Uebelmannia pectinifera Buining. Seed storage was carried out over a period of 12 months under three different temperatures: ambient at 26°C ± 8°C, cold at 8°C ± 2°C, and freezing at -12°C ± 2°C. The experiment...

Descrição
Resumo:The present study aimed to test different seed storage temperatures on the germination of Uebelmannia pectinifera Buining. Seed storage was carried out over a period of 12 months under three different temperatures: ambient at 26°C ± 8°C, cold at 8°C ± 2°C, and freezing at -12°C ± 2°C. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, with 08 replications of 25 seeds each, evaluating the percentage of germination (%G) and germination speed (VG). There were significant differences between the tested storage temperatures. The best result was obtained with seeds stored at 8°C ± 2°C, achieving 72.6% germination. Seeds stored at ambient temperature of 26°C ± 8°C and at -12°C ± 2°C showed the worst germination results. Germination occurred on average 7 days after sowing.
