Sumario:The objective of this study was to describe and indicate strategic alternatives for the improvement of the meat quality of sheep production chain of Rio Grande do Sul using the analysis of the value chain and development of strategic alliances. The research was developed from the method of case study with three organizations to support the development of the meat quality of sheep production chain in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In the research, some strategic alternatives emerging: increasing product differentiation, increase investment, developing the image of products with geographical indications. The cases surveyed illustrate important initiatives and strategies to be followed for the structuring of the value chain of the sheep in Rio Grande do Sul, especially related to share activities, logistics of supply and distribution, industrial processing and marketing.
