| Sumario: | In 1946, Gabriel Marcel delivered a major conference, which in many aspects remains interesting and relevant to us in 2019. Intitled "Existence and Human Freedom in Jean-Paul Sartre, that text represents a decisive turn in his philosophical relation to Sartre. "It is back to this period that, according to Marcel, dates the deterioration of the relations between the two men, as Anne Mary has observed in 2014, in a well-informed article. My summarised presentation shall be constructed in two complementary sequences: the first part will summarise the history of such relations, whilhe the second part will comment upon the most important topics of the 1946 conference. A third part will enlarge the questioning, without intending to bring forth a final assessment on the metaphysical final meaning of the disagreement between Gabriel Marcel and Jean-Paul Sartre.
