Descripción
Sumario:The main aim of this paper is to discuss the role of the local knowledge spillovers as a way to foster learning process in local production systems. To do this, it was used a methodology presented by Dahl & Pedersen (2004) that measures local knowledge spillovers through informal contacts among local workers. This methodology was applied to the ICT local system of the region of Campinas, where it was done a survey with engineers, developers and software programmers from several local firms. The results show that there is a huge interchange of information and knowledge sharing through informal contacts and, moreover, an important share of this knowledge was considered of high value. Nevertheless, the research allowed the evaluation of the characteristics of the local innovative activities and the role of the knowledge obtained by informal contacts in the local networks.
