Sumario: This paper presents an epidemiological study of dengue fever in the municipality of Santa Bárbara d´Oeste, São Paulo State, Brazil, in 2010. We analyzed 1,172 notification forms of positive cases of dengue identified by laboratory tests and epidemiological clinical data. Cases were concentrated in the first months of the year. Virus isolation identified the circulation of two serotypes of the disease, DEN-1 and DEN-2. The first results that came up with positive diagnoses occurred in imported patients and later, emergence of autochthonous cases was observed. Men were more affected by the disease. The age group with the highest number of cases was 15 to 19 years old; however, the values for the subsequent age groups (20-24, 25-29, 30-34 and 35-40 years old) also presented high levels of occurrence. Four symptoms predominated among the notifications: fever, myalgia, headache and arthralgia.
