Sumario:This work was done in accordance with the suggested texts readings and the classes attended the course Introduction to Literature and Philosophy Studies whose aim was to analyze the construction of suicide through letters and the suffering of the character Werther, revealing the impossibility of achieving the romantic ideal of love for young Charlotte. In this sense, the work discusses the influence of the book “The Sorrows of Young Werther”, by Goethe in the historical context of the eighteenth century as a precursor of German Romanticism and the work influence the movement called Sturm und Drang (“Storm and Urge”).
