| Sumario: | The State Parks, as well as the National ones, have among their objectives the challenge of sensitizing visitors through the development of educational activities and environmental interpretation. However, to succeed in this purpose, it is necessary to know the profile of the people who visit it. From this perspective, we conducted field research to identify the profile of visitors to Parque Estadual do Turvo from 2018 to 2019, as well as to analyze the motivations and expectations of tourists when traveling through the territory of the conservation unit. To this end, we administered a questionnaire to 144 visitors to assess visitors’ perceptions upon arrival (before the visit) and upon departure (after the visit). The results allow us to believe that the management of public use in the evaluated period did not achieve the intended “environmental friendliness.” To this end, Turvo State Park must invest in different interpretative forms about biodiversity and, especially, about the jaguar ecosystem, in order to involve and raise awareness among visitors about the importance of protected areas as well as about the conservation of nature. |
