Sumario:This study aims to analyze the discursive positions in the materiality of four school dictionaries -which were selected and evaluated by the PNLD Dictionaries 2012 and distributed in public high schools -, problematize the pre-constructed discursives and verify how the possible readings can influence the citizen formation. Through the analyzes it was found that in the definition of the entry citizenand citizenshipthereis a predominance of the legal discourse. It is concluded that in the analyzed perspective, the definition of citizenship and citizen is inscribed in a discourse linked to capital and the State, silencing the substantive freedoms of the subject to change reality.
