Descripción
Sumario:This research uses qualitative methods to show how versatile music can be when it concerns sociocultural issues and integration between people and society, what allows for an expansion of content in various areas of knowledge. Relying on techniques of educational ethnography, it aims at investigating and understanding the process of musicalization and its relation with the musical identity of adults over 50 years old. The study involves eight students at the aforementioned range of age enrolled at the course Appreciation and Musicalization in Maturity of the Music School of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and a professor. The reflections proposed here are intended to shed some light on the conditions, functions and meanings of musicalizing people. The data sources consisted of literature review and direct documentation, which was obtained through questionnaires, participant observation, documents analysis and semi-structured interviews to record the testimony of the students and the teacher concerning the objectives of this research. The content analysis was conducted from the data organization and interpretation reported during the study. Through classification of categories (to be discussed along the dissertation), was possible to verify the results, in order to prompt new discussions in the educational context regarding the meaning of musical experience with elder adults. The final considerations reflect on how important experience proved to be in the musicalization of adults that desire music learning through a process that favors new musical practices and positive changes.
