Descripción
Sumario:This work aims to analyze the profile of authors and the references cited in articles published in the scholarly journal Informação & Sociedade: Estudos. Thus, a bibliographic research was realized considering the journal´s online collection. A survey and a bibliometric analysis were done regarding the published academic production from 2011 to 2017. Amongst the main results, it was seen that the great majority of articles are published in co-authoring pattern, requiring at least one of the authors to have a PhD. In addition to this, there was an exponential growth in the number of articles published in 2017, with emphasis on research reports. Of the 7,626 references found, the most common typology were books, the most cited periodical was the Ciência da Informação Journal; and the most common language was Portuguese. Regarding international journals, it should be noted that the six most cited have A1 strata. Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the present study allowed a more detailed analysis of the scholarly production published during the investigated period, demonstrating that the journal represents an important knowledge dissemination instrument in the Information Science and related areas due to the excellent level of published articles.
