| Resumo: | Based on the theoretical assumptions of Variationist Sociolinguistics, this article aims to investigate the variation between the first person plural possessive pronouns nossa/a(-s) and the innovative form da gente in the cultural language of Fortaleza. For this purpose, we used the sample of the project Descrição do Português Oral Culto de Fortaleza - PORCUFORT - PHASE II, consisting of 36 informants drawn from the interview type Dialog between Two Informants (D2). The results show that the variation of the forms da gente and nosso/a(-s) favors the use of the conservative variant, the most used in the linguistic community studied. Although the innovative variant was influenced by the linguistic factors of group size and type of possession, we conclude that the form da gente still occurs in contexts of restricted occurrence. Thus, we conclude that the change in the paradigm of possessive pronouns in the community under study is far from complete. |
