| Summary: | This article aims to reconstruct experiences of the occupation of the Paulo Freire Municipal School in the municipality of Armação dos Búzios from the oral reports of students and teachers. The school was occupied in 2017 due to the possibility of closing its activities amid the financial crisis discourse in the municipality that year, which culminated in the closing of classes and institutional attitudes that led to the closing of the school. From the oral reports, we reflect that the occupation of the school permeated changes in the institution's power relations, causing students to become the pillar of school dynamics, thus promoting a subversion of the institutional order and bringing new meanings to that institution. |
