Descripción
Sumario:ABSTRACT The scope of this study was to investigate the implementation of the Acquisition and Food Program from Family Farming – (PAA in Portuguese) as a public policy and the adherence of rural women in Foz do Iguaçu County. As a methodological procedure, a research characterized as exploratory and qualitative was used. The universe of field research was a group of rural women enrolled in the PAA, making up a total of 15 rural women interviewed between April and August 2022. The results showed that among Brazilian national public policies, the PAA is the program developed at the municipal level in which the participation of rural women stands out, even though it was not created exclusively to serve only women. The present study contributed to the identification of opportunities and challenges in the view of the interviewees, which include female empowerment, appreciation of associations, the permanence of the farmer in the field and reinforced the debate on the need to maintain public policies aimed at family farming , particularly rural women.
