Sumario:This research investigates meanings and arguments the right to vote and choose their representatives by pre-trial detainees and adolescents over 16 years old who fulfill the socio-educational measure in internment. The objective is to understand the concepts and representations that circulate in the social imagination, about the full right of citizens deprived of freedom to exercise their citizenship. Referring to the monographic method, a bibliographic review of texts and documents related to the current aspects of the Brazilian Electoral Code was sought, and the relationship between the right to vote, citizenship formation and social reinsertion of prisoners.
