description Objective: The aim was to characterize the evolution of referrals to the Clinical Sexology Consultation at a tertiary hospital center in Portugal. Material and Methods: We analyzed a cohort of patients referred in the period between 2012 and 2021, and data was extracted regarding the number of referrals, absenteeism rate at the first consultation, sociodemographic characterization, diagnosis, and referring entities. Results: A total of 859 referrals were found, with an average absenteeism rate of 23.52%. In recent years, there has been an equalization between the sexes and a greater demand from younger people. We noticed a progressive decrease in married/common-law marriage patients and a progressive increase in single patients seeking this consultation. Regarding the most frequent diagnosis, there was a statistically significant decrease in referrals for HA01.1 erectile dysfunction, from 33.33% in 2012 to 8.87% in 2021. This trend was accompanied by a statistically significant increase in referrals for HA60 gender incongruence, from 25.25% in 2012 to 46.77% in 2021. Conclusions: The typical profile of the patient currently seeking this consultation corresponds to a person that is young, single, and diagnosed with gender incongruence. Changes in demand for this consultation are significant and may reflect changes in today´s society and/or the healthcare system.

Material y Métodos: Se analizó los pacientes del período comprendido entre 2012 y 2021, y se extrajeron datos respecto al número de derivaciones, tasa de ausentismo en la primera consulta, caracterización sociodemográfica, diagnóstico y entidades de derivación.Resultados: Se encontraron un total de 859 derivaciones, con una tasa de ausentismo del 23,52%. En los últimos años se ha producido una equiparación entre sexos y una mayor demanda por parte de los más jóvenes. Notamos una disminución progresiva de pacientes casados/unión de hecho y un aumento progresivo de pacientes solteros que solicitan esta consulta. En cuanto al diagnóstico más frecuente, hubo una disminución estadísticamente significativa en las derivaciones por HA01.1 disfunción eréctil, del 33,33% en 2012 al 8,87% en 2021. Esta tendencia fue acompañada de un aumento estadísticamente significativo en las derivaciones por HA60 incongruencia de género, del 25,25 % en 2012 al 46,77% en 2021. Conclusiones: El perfil típico del paciente que acude actualmente a esta consulta corresponde a una persona joven, soltera y diagnosticada con incongruencia de género. Material e Métodos: Analisamos uma coorte de pacientes referenciados no período entre 2012 e 2021, tendo sido extraídos dados referentes ao número de referenciações, taxa de absentismo na primeira consulta, caracterização sociodemográfica, diagnóstico e entidades referenciadoras. Resultados: Foram encontradas um total de 859 referenciações, com uma taxa média de absentismo de 23,52%. Nos últimos anos, houve uma equalização entre os sexos e uma maior procura por parte de pessoas mais jovens. Verificamos uma diminuição progressiva dos pacientes casados/em união de fato e um aumento progressivo dos solteiros que procuram essa consulta. Em relação ao diagnóstico mais frequente, houve uma diminuição estatisticamente significativa nas referenciações por HA01.1 disfunção erétil, de 33,33%, em 2012, para 8,87%, em 2021. Essa tendência foi acompanhada do aumento estatisticamente significativo nas referenciações por HA60 incongruência de gênero, de 25,25%, em 2012, para 46,77%, em 2021. Conclusões: O perfil típico do paciente que atualmente procura esta consulta corresponde a uma pessoa jovem, solteira e com diagnóstico de incongruência de gênero.
