| Sumario: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the perception of nutritionists about Palliative Oncological Care and its applicability in clinical practice. Descriptive cross-sectional study with a sample composed of nutritionists. The General Questionnaire on Palliative Care adapted for the present study was applied, with Google Forms and Microsoft® Excel assistance. The content analysis of the discursive questions was carried out with reference to the National guidelines in Oncology (2015), the Brazilian Consensus on Oncology Nutrition (2021) and the ESPEN Clinical Nutrition in câncer guideline (2021). t was observed that 98.4% of the nutritionists had knowledge in Palliative Care, but only 30% had contact with the topic during graduation. As for the nutritional management applied to end-of-life patients, 83.2% responded “offer what they can eat, bringing comfort, even if it leads to weight loss”, followed by “suggesting ENT to avoid malnutrition and worsen the patient's condition” in 10.6%. Regarding the definition of Palliative Care, terms such as “end-of-life care” were found, “where there is no longer any possibility of cure”, “care in terminal phases”. The results show that most nutritionists have knowledge about Palliative Care, but present some difficulty in the practical applicability. |
