Resumo:Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain syndrome, non-articular and non-inflammatory whose treatment involves an interdisciplinary approach. There is a consensus in the literature about the importance of physical exercises in fibromyalgia, but there is no consensus on the most appropriate type of exercise .Isostretching technique consists of muscles stretching can be done in a group and it had not been used in research for the fibromyalgia treatment. The same occurs with aerobic exercises using virtual rehabilitation that allow to perform dynamic movements. Objective: This study is designed to determine the efficacy and compare Isostretching technique and aerobic exercises using virtual rehabilitation in the fibromyalgia treatment . Materials and Methods: The research was carried out with a randomized blind comparison with 21 women diagnosed with fibromyalgia according to the American College of Rheumatology who were divided into two groups, treated with Isostretching (GI) with and group aerobic exercise using Nintendo Wii (GW).The patients were assessed by the FIQ, algometry digital, EMG, peak torque and baropodometry step test. The interventions mentioned were submitted to three weekly for one hour, in 20 sessions. Results: The two therapeutic modalities are useful in the treatment of fibromyalgia symptoms due to the reduced impact of fibromyalgia and increased pain threshold. The virtual rehabilitation obtained the earlier results. The both techniques during the eight weeks did not cause improvement in electromyographic pattern, peak torque and physical ability. The Isostretching was able to produce benefits in baropodometric variables as lower lateral oscillation, decrease the maximum pressure and increased contact surface after 20 sessions. The aerobic exercise with virtual rehabilitation promoted more significant improvement in the index of asymmetry. More studies are required to elucidate the potential benefits of these techniques.
