| Sumario: | The current essay aims to analyze two travel accounts by the renowned writer from Paraíba, José Lins do Rego (1901-1957). Based on the analysis of these documents, the experience of returning to the sugarcane plantation, as fictionalized by the literary figure who frequently undertook such journeys throughout his life, is discussed. The proposed reflection leads to an inquiry into how the physical and fictionalized journeys construct certain meanings for the revisited spatiality – the familiar plantation – and for the act of excursion itself. Thus, throughout four sections, the essay demonstrates José Lins' journey back to the plantation as a poetic experience, that is, as a practice that must intertwine both history and fiction. |
