Sumario:Abstract: For many years, the Brazilianhistoriographic production about corporal practices,including sports, was limited to a few references.However since the 1990’s it is possible to observea growth of the number of historical studies of thisnature. A characteristic of this production is thatnormally they are about local or regional realities.The aim of this article is to discuss the possibilities,potentialities and limits of the method of ComparativeHistory to extend the contributions of sport historicalstudies. We hope it may contribute to problematizethe current stage of our historiographic production,presenting landmarks in order to continue theprocess of qualification of our inquiries, and evento establish more usual contacts to the internationalscientific community.
