| Sumario: | This article analyses the implications of intergovernamental or federative dimension of managerial and regulatory policies concerning basic sanitation services in Brazil, through the perspective of a comparative study. Drawing lessons from the French experience, this study deals with the structural elements that ensure sustainable territorial management to sanitation services, and it also analyzes the possible implications of such conformation for the private parties. Indeed, this academic work paves the way to comprehend the role of private sector in these managerial activities. Also, we believe that this is a necessary perspective to give the right dimension of the dilemmas that can emerge from the intensification of private enterprise participation in this sector, considering the ongoing initiatives that try to redefine the management model of this particular regulatory sphere in Brazil. |
