A prevalence of cases of nonmelanoma skin cancer was of 6% and melanoma was 0.52% in the entire region. Among the cases of skin cancer, 91% were non-melanoma type, being 72% basal cell carcinoma and 19% spin cell carcinoma type. Melanoma type corresponds to 9%. The greater prevalence was in the female sex. Conclusion: It is concluded that the type of nom-melanoma is the most frequent in the region, however, the prevalence of melanoma should be considered important. Despite the existence of photoeducation actions in all or country, they must be intensified in order to prevent the occurrence of this type of cancer.
