Descrição
Resumo:This work aimed to shed light on the social and political history of the journey of the Brazilian journalist Paulo Schilling. The excerpt presented here is part of research that resulted in a Master's thesis in History. Therefore, we sought to highlight the figure and profile of the journalist, who worked in the mid-1950s and 1960s advocating for agrarian reform and the rights of rural workers. In 1964, he had to go into exile due to the persecution he began to face from the Department of Political and Social Order (DOPS), along with other leftist comrades. His story gained prominence because he was involved in the fight against the military dictatorship, which led him to return to Brazil only in the 1980s. His intellectual repertoire deserves analysis as it encompasses numerous discussions about Brazilian society and solutions to problems related to the mismanagement of government policies. Paulo Schilling is yet another Brazilian whose voice was silenced by the 1964 coup, and therefore, this work aims to bring his story to light.
