| Sumario: | Introduction: Confucius Institutes contribute to the internationalization of Brazilian universities, strengthening cooperation between Brazil and China. Objective: The study aims to understand the international educational cooperation between Brazilian and Chinese higher education institutions, focusing on the Confucius Institute, and to identify its role in the internationalization of these institutions. Method: Based on references on international cooperation and internationalization theories, the research analyzes the Confucius Institutes in Brazil. The qualitative methodology included bibliographic and documentary research and a questionnaire with 18 responses from professionals at the Confucius Institutes and international departments of the host institutions. Results: The descriptive data analysis reveals pragmatic cooperation, with both sides seeking to strengthen and diversify this partnership in various forms and areas of knowledge. Conclusion: There is growing interest for the Confucius Institutes to play a role in the coordination of international research, faculty and student mobility, as well as language and culture teaching. |
