| Resumo: | The objective of this paper is to characterize the ground water based on an inventory of water wells in order to monitor the water resources management. The study area is located in the Municipality of Paraipaba at the west coast of a Brazilian state called Ceará. Its area is approximately 22 km2. Thus, 43 water wells were mapped during the months of May and July. It is composed by 38 dug wells and 5 shallow or profound drilled wells. During the work field were identified 6 inactive dug wells. The entire number was constructed over an area divided in two Hydrogeological Domains, Barreiras and Depósitos Aluvionares. The static water levei measured in the studied area has an average of 12 m. The mapped area has an acid behavior with pH varying around 5,34. Furthermore, the average of the electric conductivity is 626pS/cm, but some peaks overpasses 1000pS/cm in 4 water wells. The behavior of the total dissolved solids is ver similar to that shown by the electríc conductivity with an average of 441 mg/L, since both are intimately related. The temperature maintained its expected patter to the region of study about 28,9° C. It is recommended that the water wells of the municipality of Paraipaba should be constantly monitored in order to ensure good groundwater quality to the people who usually utilize the water supply to irrigation, domestic use, human consumption and animal consumption. |
