Resumo:During the I International Congress of Critical Applied Linguistics (ICCAL) – held in Brasilia-DF/Brazil from 19 to 21 October, 2015 – Alastair Pennycook (University of Technology, Sidney) gave the event’s opening lecture entitled “Critical Applied Linguistic Challenges.” Widely known for his work on critical approaches to language education and applied linguistics, he generously accepted our request to talk about this issue. In the year that his book Critical applied linguistics: a critical introduction completes 15 years of publication, it is an honor for us to publish our conversation.
