Descripción
Sumario:Orthosis, Prosthetics and Special Material (OPME) management is becoming increasingly important for healthcare organizations. However, although they are fundamental in the healthcare process, these materials have a high cost that directly impacts the hospitals’ economy. Given this context, this research aimed to study the following topic: pharmacoeconomics in aiding the standardization of OPME. This is an integrative review of the literature, in which research in online libraries was used, searching for articles published in the last five years. 11 articles were obtained for analysis and discussion, which highlight the role of the pharmacist in the management of OPMEs, mainly addressing the acquisition, control and standardization of OPMEs; the forms of standardization were also analyzed, and the pharmacoeconomic results after this standardization were evaluated. It is concluded that pharmacoeconomics becomes a primary factor for analyzing the costs and benefits of medical treatments, using economic principles and clinical data, to reduce costs, effectiveness of procedures and quality of services offered.
