Sumario:This research focuses on a theme of the contemporary world, excessive concerns about body image in practitioners of exercise. The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship of body image, body image distortion, in practitioners of exercise. Furthermore, this study has some issues associated with the pursuit of a perfect body, such as food, sports supplementation and the overuse of steroids. 38 studies were selected for the writing of this study, includingbooks and articles, which cover topics such as: body image, body image distortion, sports supplementation and overuse of steroids. The dissatisfaction of real body compared to the ideal standard disseminated by the media, the fear of being excluded or being devalued, associated with a speech that relates health to the appearance and immediacy in getting the wanted body collaborate that subjects use excess exercise, often endangering their health. It can be noticed that an increasing consumption of supplements without proper control and a clear need for new studies on supplements and their effects to improve the level of information and to ensure safe use. Thus, it is clear that people who practice physical exercises should seek guidance from a doctor or nutritionist in order to make the exercise healthily does not expose health risks.
