Descrição
Resumo:Modern Architecture is part of the Sorocaba landscape. However, its preservation is at risk and there are many challenges regarding the conservation of these buildings. The aim of the present study was to present a survey on modern buildings from Sorocaba, emphasizing four of them and their conservation conditions. First of all, thirty-five buildings were identified through a bibliographical review and exploratory research. In the second step, four of the selected buildings were analyzed: the Diretório Regional Agrícola (DIRA), Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial (SENAI), Teatro Municipal Teotônio Villela (theater) e Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Comercial (SENAC). The conservation stage of these buildings was investigated. Among those buildings, the theater presented a higher number of anomalies. Through this case was possible to identify the intimate relationship between the lack of conservation and the presence of the pathological manifestations. By contrast, SENAC was the building that presented better conservation and it was in accordance with its initial project.
