Resumo:The aging of the world-wide population is a fact, as well as all the problems associates, as retirements and proper illnesses of the third age, attracting the interest of researchers of many areas. Such modifications occurred in the demographic scene are followed by modifications in the profile epidemiologist and nutritional of the population, and as consequence of this transition has the increase of the obesity between the aged population and the biggest occurrence of cardiovascular disease as atherosclerosis. The obesity is associated with great frequency to the factors of risk as dislipidemias, diabetes mellitus and systemic arterial hypertension, which favors the occurrence of cardiovascular events. In conclusion, that the population more affected by the factors of risk caused by the weight excess is the female. However the men present greater trend for the central obesity, even so this picture can be reverted due to the increase of the prevalence of women who present the abdominal obesity nearly to the 60 years. Some factors of risk can be modified through alterations in the life style, as regular practical of physical activity and the healthful feeding. Therefore the necessity of social politics stimulating such initiatives for the population.
