| Sumario: | In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the global public health emergency on zika and called on the scientific community to accelerate research efforts on this issue, stressing the importance of a rapid diffusion of scientific information on the disease, as well as the availability of its results in open access, which favored the exponential growth of scientific production on the subject. The present study verified the occurrence of scientific production on zika published in open access scientific journals and identified the main periodicals used for this disclosure. For this, a search and bibliometric analysis of the indexed production on the subject in the Scopus database was carried out, identifying the type of access of the journals. The results point to an increase in the use of open access scientific journals as a vehicle for disseminating research results on the theme, indicating an alignment with the WHO appeal. |
