Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: Due to the increase in the diagnosis of children with ASD, it was possible to identify how much the development of these children differs in some neurotypical aspects of children. The training of professionals who assist these children is crucial for good child development, so the objective was to explore the role of nurses in assisting children with ASD. This is a bibliographical review, of a qualitative nature, based on databases: VHL, SciELO, Ministry of Health (gov.br) and Research Gate. The results were organized into three categories: (1) Main signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), showing difficulties in social interaction, communication, repetitive behaviors and sensory changes; (2) Role of the nurse, emphasizing early detection, monitoring and family support, despite challenges in professional training; and (3) Interventions in the management of ASD, highlighting individualized strategies, sensory stimulation, support for autonomy and a multidisciplinary approach to promote quality of life and social inclusion. It is concluded that nursing is essential in the care of children with autism, offering emotional support, adapted communication and individualized interventions, through the use of multidisciplinary approaches and complementary therapies, promoting effective and inclusive care. In addition, continuous training of professionals is crucial to guarantee quality care and reduce stigma.
