| Summary: | Combination that deals part of the research named “Penalty and Metamorphosis in the Brazilian northeastern” chap-book, which literary universe is the one of the leaflet where transgressor characters of the moral and religious precepts are punished by the loss of the human form and metamorphosed into animals. The study aims identify the penalties the characters are submitted to with wastes of the medieval Iberian Portuguese mentality of punishment and segregation of the individuals from the social minorities. By the religious middle age Iberian Portuguese way of thinking, the transgressions of the characters in question, classified according to the Seven Deadly Sins, almost always are linked to the sinful sexual universe and, therefore, diabolical, according to the guiding Christian imaginary of the universe in analysis. |
