| Sumario: | This work aims to analyze fashion as the identity of the subject who uses it and its relation to the space in which it is inserted. In order to achieve this goal, a survey was carried out on the fashion consumption habits of the outskirts of the city of São Paulo, focusing on the Favela of Paraisópolis, through its residents, its fashion stores and the "Periferia Inventando Moda" Project - PIM , located within this community. The PIM project uses the logic of fashion as a factor of social inclusion, combined with professional training. From the clothing and spaces that fashion occupies in social life, by the look of consumption and fashion stores found in Paraisópolis, seeks to identify constitutive elements of the culture, identity and social representation of the people who live there. It starts from the premise that fashion is an important part in the identity construction of people. The methodology used was based on a qualitative approach, especially in semi-structured interviews with shopkeepers, residents, with the two project leaders and their students, as well as, in participant observation, during the fashion events performed in Paraisópolis by PIM |
