| Sumario: | The text intends to discuss the meanings “love” was used in two circumstances: the demonstrations called “More Love in SP”, that took place during 2012, an election year in the capital of São Paulo, Brazil; and the hashtag #LoveWins on June 26, 2015 after the Supreme Court of the United States approved civil union between same sex couples. The main question is: how and why was “love” used in political debates? Apparently, the intention resided precisely in the capacity for transcendence of the term “love”, it could overcome partisan and sexual opposition. I assume that, by using a sentiment, the public agents claim a universal speech, unmarked by specific interests. |
